Who We Are

The people that work in a dental office are the key to its success. You will find the doctors and staff of the Penticton Dental Centre to be amongst the friendliest and most professional people you have ever met. We are extremely proud of the team we have put together to help people with their oral health. The best thing about our office is that we have managed to create an environment where it is fun to come to work! Laughter can often be heard in our office over and above the sound of the dental drills.

Hours

Our office operates Monday to Friday. We are open 8 AM until 5 PM and offer extended hours on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until 7 PM.

First Visit

When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms that will allow us to begin your dental treatment. We will ask you to fill out several forms that will get you acquainted with our office.

Your initial exam will last approximately one hour, and does not usually include a dental cleaning.  The dentist will do a careful examination of your teeth and gums, but will also check you for signs of oral cancer, examine your jaw, and discuss your general health.  The information collected will be used to form a comprehensive and customized plan to ensure the best possible health for your particular situation.

Insurance

At Penticton Dental Centre we recognize the value and benefits of third party dental insurance. That is why we are pleased to offer our patients the service of billing their insurance plans directly for the covered portion of the fees. (Please note that with some companies, this “Assignment of Benefits” is not allowed).

As an additional service to our patients, when possible we will submit pre-determinations to insurance companies to try to better estimate treatment costs.

HOWEVER, in this age of expanding knowledge, the number of possible treatments and procedures for the teeth is growing rapidly. Unfortunately the list of procedures “covered” by dental insurance plans is not, and is more likely to in fact be shrinking! As dentists, if we simply continue to do only the covered procedures, then we will quickly fall behind in modern materials and techniques and will soon be out of date. Instead, we have committed to remaining current in our industry and not locked into procedures that we may no longer consider appropriate for our patients. In this way we are releasing ourselves from the insurance-based treatment that is prevalent in our industry.

Financial Policies

The financial aspects of dental treatment are often an important consideration for patients. Our staff and dentists are sensitive to that fact, and we have built an atmosphere that promotes open discussion of fees and finances related to dental treatment. In our office, patients should be comfortable asking questions about the services for which they are paying.

Dental Fees for Treatment

Fees for dental treatment in British Columbia are generally based on the fee guide negotiated between the Association of Dental Surgeons of BC and the major insurance carriers.  How closely your dentist follows the provincial fee guide will depend on level of experience, materials used, and specialized training or equipment that your dentist may be utilizing.  It is important to us that our patients feel comfortable discussing the fees for their treatment, so if you have questions, please ask.

Payment Options

We are pleased to accept Visa, MasterCard, Debit Card, cash, or cheque. Our office offers a 5% accounting courtesy for patients who wish to pay in full at the time their treatment begins.

For our patients with dental insurance, the non-insured portion of their treatment cost is payable at the time the treatment is received.

As every patient is an individual, we will consider special payment options on a case-by-case basis.  Please communicate any special concerns or questions regarding payment for treatment to your dentist.
